Green City Market

I recently moved to Lincoln Park, and today, just blocks from my apartment, I discovered Green City Market. This farmer's market happens at the southern end of Lincoln Park every Wednesday and Saturday until the end of October. It's full of local farmers from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin selling their wares. It's a great thing to know about for any bride getting married between May and October.

These little pumpkins would be perfect escort card holders for a fall wedding.

Anyone doing a DIY bouquet? You can get beautiful, seasonal flowers here on the cheap.

These flowers are gorgeous! Each bloom you see is only one stem. They remind me of fuzzy hydrangea. So much fun!

Even if you don't need wedding supplies, the market is great for inspiration. I love the colors of these cherry tomatoes. Perfect for fall! I loved them so much that I snatched some of them up and made bruschetta for lunch. Yum!

Wedding usefulness aside, Green City Market is a great place to get fresh produce and support local farmers. See you there on Saturday!

Marriage Equality in California

San Francisco Chronicle
Yesterday was an historic day for the civil rights of gay and lesbian couples in the United States. Judge Vaughn Walker of the United States District Court in the Northern District of California struck down Proposition 8 as unconstitutional, legalizing gay marriage in California. This case will almost certainly be appealed to the Ninth Circuit and probably to the U.S. Supreme Court after that, but Judge Walker's strongly worded decision marks a big step in the right direction for marriage equality. Here's hoping his precedent will lead to more states stepping up to the plate to recognize equal rights for all citizens. Illinois, will you be next?

Inspiration Board: Chicago flag

I love Chicago's flag. I love the way it tells the story of the city's history, and I especially love the colors. I think a pale blue and bright red color palette would be perfect for a chic summertime wedding in the city.

Welcome to A Windy City Wedding

I have loved weddings since I was a little girl, and recently, I have fallen in love with wedding blogs. The internet is a great resource for brides, but there seems to be a lack of information tailored specifically to Chicago brides. So, I've created A Windy City Wedding to serve as a chic, sophisticated resource for the modern Chicago bride. It's a place for me to share what inspires me so that hopefully it can inspire you, too.
